We Went Yellow for Young Minds! ๐Ÿ’›

Our school was full of yellow on Friday as we proudly took part in Hello Yellow for Young Minds, helping to raise awareness of children and young peopleโ€™s mental health and reminding everyone that everyone has feelings and everyone belongs!

A huge well done to our fantastic team of Mental Health Champions, who confidently and proudly led a special assembly for the whole school. They did a brilliant job of sharing important messages about looking after our mental health, understanding our feelings and making sure everyone feels included and supported.

During the assembly, our Champions reminded us that feelings are a normal part of being human. We all experience different emotions, sometimes even within the same day, and we might show those feelings in different ways. We explored how we can recognise and name feelings such as happiness, sadness, worry, frustration, loneliness, excitement and pride, and how our feelings can show up in our faces, bodies, voices and behaviour.

We also talked about equity and fairness โ€“ understanding that everyone is different and may need different kinds of support to help them succeed. Our Champions reminded us that we can all help others feel that they belong by listening, including others, using kind words, respecting our differences and checking in when someone might need a little help.

The assembly highlighted the important role that trusted adults, friends and family can play when we need support. We also learned more about YoungMinds and how they help young people understand their feelings and find support.

Most importantly, we were reminded that **our feelings matter, it is okay to ask for help, and nobody should feel alone.** Small acts of kindness can make a big difference, and we can all play a part in making our school a safe, caring and welcoming place.

We finished our assembly on a joyful note, dancing together to Bob Marleyโ€™s *Three Little Birds*! ๐ŸŽถ This was the perfect way to reinforce our message that feelings are like visitors โ€“ they come and go, and they donโ€™t stay forever. Even when we experience difficult feelings, things can change, and there are people who can help us along the way.

๐Ÿ’› Well done to all our Mental Health Champions for their confidence, teamwork and dedication to promoting positive mental health across our school. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

And thank you to everyone who wore yellow and helped us celebrate Hello Yellow. Although this special day gives us a wonderful opportunity to talk about mental health, we know that kindness, inclusion and looking after ourselves and each other are things we can practise every single day.

Together, we can help everyone feel safe, supported and that they truly belong.๐Ÿ’›
