We discovered a pond snail which had laid eggs, the eggs were like small, jelly-like slugs which are see-through. We also discovered a couple of pond shrimps, some blood worms and a lot of frog spawn. 🌳Forest School Class 2-Nettle soup, toast and jacket potatoes 🌳

This afternoon, the children in class 2 cooked nettle soup, toast and jacket potatoes on the campfire. Our recipe for Nettle soup was: a bowlful of nettles, 2 large potatoes, 1 onion, vegetable stock, 500ml of boiling water, and mixed herbs.
The benefits of eating nettles: They provide significant health benefits, acting as a nutrient-dense superfood rich in vitamins A,C,K and essential minerals like iron, calcium and magnesium. They reduce inflammation, support joint health, alleviate seasonal allergies, boost immunity and help manage blood pressure.

Some children really enjoyed the taste of the nettle soup and some didn’t, but at least they all gave it a try! Well done.

🌳EYFS Forest School-Signs of Spring hunt and drawing 🌳

This morning the children in EYFS went on a hunt to look for signs of spring. We found lots of different items including 2 large frogs in our school pond. The children collected a few different flowers, some willow buds, blossom and a ladybird. We sat around the table and drew some of the lovely spring flowers we collected.

Year 6 Get Stuck In with Our Wellbeing Garden 🌱

Today marked an exciting first step for our Year 6 children as they began work on our new wellbeing garden. There is lots to be done, and we are already looking forward to seeing how their hard work and ideas transform the space over time.

The children got straight to work this morning, rolling up their sleeves to weed the area, remove the old weed control fabric and carefully sort and store any resources that can be reused. They showed fantastic teamwork, resilience and care for their environment throughout the session.
